They Will Kill You is the kind of movie that comes out of nowhere and completely exceeds expectations. Blending action, horror, and comedy, the film creates a wild and unpredictable experience that feels fresh from the opening moments. It follows Zazie Beetz as an older sister who has spent 10 years searching for her younger sister, only to discover that she is working at a motel hiding something far more sinister.
The motel serves as a front for a devil worshiping cult, with a twisted setup that feels almost like a horror version of the Continental from John Wick. Staff members are sacrificed in exchange for eternal life, while new recruits are forced to either join the cult or die. What makes the film stand out is its tone. It is violent, funny, intense, and strange in all the right ways, giving audiences blood, gore, and action without ever feeling like a copy of other films in the genre.
The cast is excellent, with Patricia Arquette and Zazie Beetz delivering standout performances. Beetz gives one of the strongest performances of her career, carrying the emotional weight of the story while still fully committing to the chaos around her. Isaac Bowman’s cinematography is another major highlight, with every frame crafted to make the film feel sharp, stylish, and thrilling. With a surprising twist, a satisfying ending, and very little wasted time, They Will Kill You delivers on everything it promises.
